In a world where I get more SPAM emails that I know what to do with it’s always nice to see an email marketing campaign that really hits the mark. I received this one a while back from LinkedIn and while it’s taken me some time to get it posted I simply had to share it:

I’ve spoken in the past about how important subject lines are in your digital marketing efforts, and this was no exception .. but in a very good way. The subject line of this particular email really spoke to me:
“Greg, congratulations! You have one of the top 5% most viewed LinkedIn profiles for 2012!”
And while I’m not so sure that my LinkedIn profile has been viewed all that often I can say one thing sure sure – that subject line was eye catching enough that it caused me to open it. And isn’t that what email marketing is all about? In addition to that well put together email, they also included a link where I could very easily share the fact that my profile was one of the top 5%. Talk about an effective campaign!
