Social media can be a great tool, but it can also lead to some pretty closed minded people who don’t truly ‘communicate’ with those around them.  I ran across this meme today and I had to share it. Ironically enough I posted the following message on my Facebook page earlier this AM.

I’ve posted this several times over the years. I think it bears repeating as I feel things have gotten worse not better. IMO it’s primarily the “fault” of social media and the echo chambers it creates.

Serious question… has anyone ever been in a political or religious discussion and said, “You know what… now that you put it that way, you’re right.”

That said, as I grow older, I cherish my friends and family members that I can have these sorts of discussions with. With the advent of social media these days the art of “discussion” is being lost which is really sad. Doesn’t anyone ever just “talk” anymore?

There are far too few people that will ever admit they’re wrong or that that just don’t know something. I pride myself on saying “I don’t know” often. That just means I’ve got more to learn.

Bottom line… be kind folks. Have an open mind and don’t be afraid to say ‘I’m sorry’ or ‘I don’t know’.
