How Much Does A Website Cost? When I tell people that I build websites one of the first questions invariably is, “How much does it cost?”  I really don’t like giving a two word answer, but almost all of the time that’s exactly what I do.  That answer is, ““It depends.”

There are folks that will build you a website for next to nothing.  Want to pay 6 or 7 figures?  No problem… you’ll be able to find those people too.  What you end up paying is going to depend (there’s that word again) on what’s being built!

  1. What type of site are you asking for?
When you get asked, please don’t answer with, “I need a site for my business“.   If you need some help defining what you’re realy in need of, we can certainly help.  But you really do need to understand the impact of your website.  What’s the purpose of your site?  Who are your customers?  Are you going to dive into social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)?  Are you looking for an online store?  Will you be blogging?  All of these questions need to be answered before you can get going.
  2. When do you need it?
Like everything else, web design, development and maintenance take time.  There are things that you don’t want to rush, and the creative process isn’t one of them.  If you’re going into a project, we’ll tell you how long it will take.  If a project is scheduled for 3 months, it won’t be done tomorrow.  It’s important to have realistic time expectations.
  3. Your design… who are you?
Your site is the window to the world.  One of the beauties of the web is you can make your business look like whatever you want it to.  Are you a weekend blogger who wants to look larger?  No problem.  Are you a large organization that wants a “mom and pop” feel?  You got it.  Design can make up a large piece of your development budget.  Some website owners only care about SEO (search engine optimization).  Others have very specific thoughts when it comes to look and feel.  This decision is up to you.  We’ll work with you to make sure we nail it.
  4. Website updates – hourly, daily, weekly or monthly?
Your website shouldn’t sit idle once it’s live.  Now more than ever, website updates are critical for SEO success.  Depending on the nature of your site you may want to consider a content management system (CMS).  These systems allow you to update your site as often as you’d like with little or no programming knowledge.
  5. Are you serious?
As with anything, you can ALWAYS find a cheaper alternative. Consider this… sayings don’t come from nowhere.  There is a reason the phrase, “You get what you pay for” was ever said in the first place.  Work with someone who understands what you want and how to deliver it.  There are folks out there that will promise you the world to get your business.  We’re not one of those.  We work to be your partner.  Because of that, we tell you what you NEED to hear rather than just trying to sell you a web development project.

Are you ready to get started?  Get a hold of us and we’ll get you where you need to go.  We look forward to working with you!
