What Is Website Traffic? A Traffic Podcast

I was recently asked to be a part of a podcast created by Purely Hosting where we talked about what website traffic is and why it’s so important.  Purely Hosting is one of the world’s leading web hosting companies, specializing in shared hosting solutions for business and personal sites.  You can find them on the web at http://purelyhosting.com, follow them on Twitter or friend them on Facebook.

If you recall, we recently ran a series of posts that talked about the different types of website traffic and the differences between them:

The Best Of KTC Digital For 2012

Being the absolute web analytics geek that I am, I’m always interested to see what content on our website people are interested in.  I “only” wrote 27 blog posts last year which is admittedly below my once per week goal for the site, but it was well above the one per month that I did in 2011.  I suppose the good news in that is this… I’d MUCH rather work on our client’s websites that on our own.  And this past year that’s exactly what I did.

2012 was an outstanding year for KTC Digital and I want to take this opportunity… Continue reading

Website Analytics – Referral Traffic

Continuing our series of posts on website analytics and your traffic sources, today’s post will cover referral traffic.  Unlike search traffic where someone has gone to Google, Bing, Yahoo or another search engine and done a search, referral traffic refers to when a user has clicked on a link to KTC Digital from another site on the internet.  Many times, this is a link that one of our clients put on their site, a press release, Facebook, Twitter, etc.   We can assume that the user already has some idea what they’re going to get based on the… Continue reading

Website Analytics – Search Traffic

In a previous post, I talked about my love for website analytics and gave a brief explanation of the different traffic sources that you may see when reviewing your website analytics.  Today’s post will be focusing specifically on search traffic.  Search traffic is when a user has gone to a search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) and done a search.  They have then followed one of the results and landed on your site.  This is an awesome type of traffic to get, as many times it’s someone who has not done business with you or your… Continue reading

Website Analytics – Your Traffic Sources

I’m a website analytics geek.  I’m always diving into my Google Analytics account to check out how my websites are doing.  Most people are concerned with how MUCH traffic they’re getting.  But that’s not the first number I look at.  The first report I go to when I login to my account is my Traffic Sources Report.

Don’t get me wrong, visits, unique visitors and pageviews are important, but those numbers are highly overrated in my opinion.  Folks tend to gravitate to these analytics numbers because they can understand them.  They require little to no analysis to understand what they… Continue reading

Maine Men’s Gymnastics – We Don’t Play Games

When Doug Springer was recently promoted to the State Chair of Maine Men’s Gymnastics he decided that he wanted a website.  Doug called KTC Digital and we got to work.  We’re happy to announce his new site is now live at http://mainemensgymnastics.org/!  We’ve built a website where Doug will provide updates on gymnastics in the state of Maine, give information on finding a local gym, a variety of links to gymnastics resources, a schedule of upcoming events and a blog / newsletter.

Features of the new site include:
